The future of Stratford is dependent on changing the direction our town has taken. Our town government and leaders must reestablish trust with the people and must commit themselves to putting Stratford above personal gain. Our Republican Town Council has attempted to do this but, unfortunately, others in town government have not been as open to this concept. I have watched our town fall deeper and deeper into turmoil and as the rancor between the Mayor and the people has gotten louder, as the headlines and news stories have become more disheartening. The only way to change this is to change the person leading our town. Never has an election been as important to our town as the election this November. It is our duty as citizens to come together and bring about the change Stratford needs.
Last year I formed a committee for the purpose of exploring my potential candidacy for the Office of Mayor. I have spoken to members of the community and have been encouraged by the support that has been forthcoming. Many people have come to me or called and asked me if I was planning on running for Mayor in 2009. My decision has became clear.
I have decided to seek the Office of Mayor in 2009. This is a major undertaking. I am asking for your help as a citizen of Stratford who, wants to see our town prosper and flourish. I believe the involvement is vital to the success of Stratford. I love this town and believe it can be a town that all others will be envious of.
The next Mayor will face many complex issues. From managing the fragile fiscal situation, to reestablishing trust with our town employees, to ensuring that town services are provided to all our citizens in a cost effective and customer friendly manner, the next Mayor must hit the ground running . This is a seven day a week 24 hour a day job. Not only am I prepared and up to this task, I am looking forward to it.
Working together with you I believe we can successfully guide the Town to a position of pride, security and cost effectiveness. This is the time when we need to come together and present a united effort.
I hope that you will support my decision. I am very interested in your thoughts and ideas. I encourage you to contact me if you would like to discuss an issue of importance that we can work together on. I look forward to talking with you soon.
Thank you for your consideration.
